Our certified and caring instructors are here to help increase your muscle strength and tone, particularly of your abdominal muscles, lower back, hips, buttocks (the ‘core muscles’ of your body) that provide balance of muscular strength on both sides of your body.
Taking Pilates classes is a great way to expand your fitness horizons. Pilates can be done on the mat or on a Pilates reformer. Pilates gives you physical versatility that a traditional gym membership does not. Pilates is a physical game-changer for many – regardless of your fitness background. Pilates will meet anyone’s challenges and improve your movements in a graceful way. There are so many variations on similar Pilates exercises, that it always feels new, yet relevant.
We require a complimentary 30 minute Private Session/Consultation before joining group apparatus classes, regardless of prior Pilates experience. There is tremendous variation in the teaching styles and equipment between Pilates studios across the country, so we want clients to be directed into the correct Pilates Program at PYC. Three Private lesson may be required to equip you with any information you will need to be successful in group classes. In these three sessions, you will become familiar with exercise names, changing your own equipment and springs on all pieces of Pilates Apparatus, and learning any modifications for certain exercises which may be contraindicated for any conditions you may have. If you have prior Pilates experience, we encourage you to use these 3 private sessions as an opportunity to work on the equipment you are least familiar with and also to just enjoy the one on one attention at the discounted rate!
